L3T contributes to the Greensand Future project
As a subcontractor to Tipatek, L3T supports the Greensand Future project led by INEOS by providing logistics and technical support related to CO₂ storage operations in the North Sea.
Part of the supply chain behind Denmark’s CO₂ storage project
Level 3 Technologies (L3T) is contributing to the Greensand Future project as a subcontractor to Tipatek, who in turn serves as a subcontractor to INEOS, the project lead.
Through this collaboration, L3T delivers logistics and technical support services that help enable the infrastructure behind permanent CO₂ storage in the Danish North Sea.
Greensand Future
Greensand Future, operated by INEOS and Wintershall Dea, recently announced its Final Investment Decision (FID) to move forward with the first commercial phase of CO₂ storage in the North Sea, expected to begin operations in late 2025 or early 2026. (greensandfuture.com)
The project aims to store up to 0.4 million tonnes of biogenic CO₂ per year in its initial phase and scale up to 8 million tonnes over time.
It marks a major step toward Denmark’s and the EU’s climate targets, demonstrating that CO₂ capture, transport, and storage can function as a fully integrated value chain.
L3T’s role
Working as a subcontractor through Tipatek, L3T provides an Offload Management System (OMS) for the port facility in Esbjerg, where trucks will offload their CO₂ payloads into large storage tanks before shipment to the North Sea platforms.
The OMS includes license plate recognition cameras and interfaces with several other systems, including ABB 800xA automation systems and INEOS’ booking system.
This ensures that offloading operations are handled safely, efficiently, and with full digital traceability across the logistics chain.
While L3T’s own carbon footprint is not directly affected by this work, our contribution plays a key role in enabling the technical and operational backbone of the Greensand Future project.
